Arsenal Football Club has reportedly ruled out the possibility of signing Raheem Sterling on a permanent basis, with the winger expected to return to Chelsea at the end of the current season.
Sterling, 30, joined Arsenal on a season-long loan from Chelsea in the summer of 2024, aiming to revive his career after falling out of favour at Stamford Bridge. Despite some early optimism, his time at the Emirates Stadium has not gone as planned. He has struggled for regular game time, often appearing as a substitute and contributing just one goal and two assists in limited minutes on the pitch.
Although Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta had previously expressed admiration for Sterling’s qualities, the reunion has not produced the desired impact. The loan agreement between Arsenal and Chelsea did not include a purchase option, and no discussions have taken place regarding a permanent transfer.
With Arsenal opting not to retain him beyond the current campaign, Sterling’s future remains uncertain. His parent club, Chelsea, had sidelined him prior to the loan, raising questions about where he might play next season if he does not feature in their plans. The England international may need to explore opportunities elsewhere in pursuit of more consistent playing time and a fresh start.
