Arteta Confirms Progress on Thomas Partey's Contract Situation
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed that talks are underway regarding a potential contract extension for midfielder Thomas Partey, whose current deal runs until 2025.
When asked during a press briefing if there had been any developments concerning a new deal for the Ghanaian international, Arteta responded:“Yes, there’s progress with all the players. I leave that to Andrea & the club to decide & to talk about.”
Further pressed on whether the club intends to keep Partey beyond his current contract, the manager made his stance clear: “The intention is very clear.”
Partey, who joined Arsenal from Atlético Madrid in 2020, has been a key part of the squad despite multiple injury setbacks in recent seasons. The 30-year-old’s future has drawn speculation, with reports previously linking him with interest from clubs in Europe, including a potential return to Spain.
With Andrea Berta now overseeing sporting operations at Arsenal, contract decisions like Partey's are expected to be part of the broader strategy to maintain squad stability and competitiveness heading into the next campaign.
