Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has confirmed that Wojciech Szczęsny will be the starting goalkeeper for the UEFA Champions League semi-final against Inter Milan.
Despite Marc-André ter Stegen's recovery from a knee injury, Flick emphasized that Szczęsny’s position in the Champions League squad is secured. This decision is also shaped by UEFA’s registration rules, which would require deregistering Szczęsny to include Ter Stegen—an option Flick has ruled out.
Regarding La Liga, Flick suggested that goalkeeper rotations could take place. He mentioned the possibility of Ter Stegen returning for domestic matches, indicating that while Szczęsny is the preferred choice for European fixtures, the goalkeeping role in the league remains open for reconsideration.
Flick also praised Szczęsny, who joined the club in October 2024 after coming out of retirement, calling him one of Barcelona’s best signings
