Kylian Mbappé Receives One-Match Suspension Following Red Card Against Alavés

Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappé has been suspended for one La Liga match after receiving a red card during the recent fixture against Deportivo Alavés.

The French star was shown a straight red for a forceful challenge on Antonio Blanco. Although the tackle was judged to be an attempt to play the ball, the referee deemed it excessively aggressive.

The Spanish Football Federation’s Disciplinary Committee reviewed the incident and, in line with Article 130 of the disciplinary code, ruled that the offense warranted a one-match suspension. As a result, Mbappé will miss Real Madrid’s upcoming La Liga clash against Athletic Club at the Santiago Bernabéu on Sunday, April 20.

The decision allows Mbappé to be available for other crucial upcoming fixtures, including the second leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-final against Arsenal and the Copa del Rey final against Barcelona.

In the same match, Alavés defender Manu Sánchez also received a one-match suspension for a separate incident involving Vinícius Júnior.
