Aston Villa Claim Thrilling Win Over PSG but Bow Out of Champions League
Aston Villa delivered a valiant performance at Villa Park, defeating Paris Saint-Germain 3-2 in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final on Tuesday night. Despite the spirited comeback, the result wasn't enough to overturn their first-leg deficit, as the French giants progressed with a 5-4 aggregate score.

The night began on a difficult note for Unai Emery’s side, with PSG quickly extending their aggregate advantage through first-half strikes from Achraf Hakimi and Nuno Mendes. With the tie seemingly out of reach at 5-1 on aggregate, Villa found a lifeline just before the break when Youri Tielemans’ effort took a deflection and found the back of the net.

The second half saw Villa come out with renewed energy and belief. Captain John McGinn added a second, and just moments later, Ezri Konsa fired home a third, turning the atmosphere electric and reducing the aggregate gap to a single goal.

Despite relentless pressure and several close chances late in the game, PSG’s defense held firm, with goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma making key saves to preserve their overall lead.

While Villa's journey ends here, their performance — particularly in the second half — was a testament to their growth under Emery, earning widespread praise for their resilience and determination.

Paris Saint-Germain now advance to the semi-finals, where they will face the winner of the Real Madrid vs Arsenal tie.
