Portable Remanded in Kwara Prison Over Failure to Meet Bail Conditions

Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola Badmus, popularly known as Portable, has been remanded at the Oke Kura Correctional Centre in Ilorin, Kwara State, after failing to meet the bail conditions set by an Upper Area Court.

The court granted him bail at ₦1 million, requiring two sureties: one being the Chairman or Secretary of the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN), and the other a property owner in Ilorin's Government Reserved Area with a valid Certificate of Occupancy.

Portable's legal troubles stem from a defamation lawsuit filed by veteran Fuji musician Saheed Osupa. The charges relate to a March 19 Instagram live session where Portable allegedly made defamatory remarks about Osupa, accusing him of jealousy and attempting to sabotage his music career.

The singer faces multiple charges, including criminal defamation, inciting disturbance, and cyberstalking, under various sections of the Penal Code, Cybercrimes Act, and Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Law. The case has been adjourned to April 30, 2025, while Portable remains in custody pending the fulfillment of his bail conditions.
