Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) triumphed 3-1 over Aston Villa in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final at the Parc des Princes on April 9, 2025.
Aston Villa initially stunned the home crowd by taking the lead in the 35th minute, as Morgan Rogers finished a quick counter-attack following a midfield mistake by Nuno Mendes.
However, PSG responded swiftly. Just four minutes later, 19-year-old midfielder Désiré Doué equalized with a superb curling shot from outside the box.
In the second half, PSG asserted their dominance. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia gave the Parisians the lead in the 49th minute, beating Axel Disasi to score a powerful goal. Despite several key saves from Villa goalkeeper Emiliano MartÃnez, PSG continued to apply pressure.
In stoppage time, Nuno Mendes redeemed his earlier error, intercepting a pass and calmly finishing past MartÃnez to seal the 3-1 victory.
The result puts PSG in a commanding position ahead of the return leg at Villa Park, where Aston Villa will need to overturn the two-goal deficit to advance to the semi-finals.
