Manchester United's manager, Rúben Amorim, shared his thoughts on goalkeeper André Onana's performance following their Europa League quarter-final first-leg match against Lyon. Reflecting on the nature of football, Amorim stated:
"Onana? If you review the season, I’ve made more mistakes than the players in recent months. It happens."
He added: "Mistakes are inevitable when you play football and take part in numerous games."
The match ended in a dramatic 2-2 draw at the Groupama Stadium in Lyon. Lyon's Thiago Almada opened the scoring in the 25th minute with a free-kick that evaded everyone and found the back of the net. Manchester United equalized just before halftime through Leny Yoro's header in stoppage time.
Joshua Zirkzee then gave United the lead in the 88th minute with a header from Bruno Fernandes' cross. However, Lyon's Rayan Cherki leveled the score in the dying moments of stoppage time, capitalizing on a rebound from Onana.
