Rúben Amorim couldn't hold back his admiration after Manchester United's electrifying 2-2 draw against Lyon in the UEFA Europa League quarter-final.
The Manchester United Coach hailed rising star Leny Yoro as "a top, top, top player," urging fans to trust in the young talent. "Trust me, he’s really good," he said, his praise setting the tone for what was a remarkable night.
The match was packed with drama, as Lyon struck first through Thiago Almada. But Yoro made his mark, leveling the score with a stunning goal just before the halftime whistle. Joshua Zirkzee looked to have sealed victory for United late on, but Rayan Cherki’s last-gasp equalizer left both teams hungry for more heading into the second leg.
Yoro, who joined Manchester United from Lille in July 2024 for a reported fee of £52.2 million, has quickly become a key figure in the squad. Despite an early setback with a foot injury that sidelined him for four months, the 19-year-old has shown immense promise. Since his debut in December 2024, Yoro has made 16 appearances for the club, impressing with his defensive awareness, passing accuracy, and ability to step into midfield when needed. His first goal for United, scored in the Lyon clash, further highlighted his potential as a future star.
Amorim also emphasized Yoro's development both on and off the pitch. "He's improving his physicality, and we’re witnessing the incredible effort from all the staff. He feels completely at home in our club," Amorim added, leaving no doubt about Yoro’s bright future.
