Veteran Spanish goalkeeper Pepe Reina has officially announced his retirement from professional football at the age of 42, concluding a distinguished 25-year career.
Reina began his professional journey with FC Barcelona in 2000 and went on to represent several top European clubs, including Villarreal, Liverpool, Napoli, Bayern Munich, AC Milan, Aston Villa, Lazio, and most recently, Como 1907. Throughout his career, he amassed nearly 1,000 appearances and secured over 300 clean sheets.

Internationally, Reina earned 36 caps for Spain and was part of the squad that achieved remarkable success, winning the 2010 FIFA World Cup and the UEFA European Championships in 2008 and 2012. Although often serving as the backup to Iker Casillas and Víctor Valdés, Reina was highly regarded for his leadership and positive influence within the team.

In a recent interview, Reina revealed that he made the decision to retire in January after discussions with his wife. He expressed gratitude for his career, stating, "I feel incredibly fortunate when I look back at everything I've experienced." His final appearance is anticipated to be in Como's upcoming match against Inter Milan, marking the end of an era for one of football's most respected goalkeepers.
