Jorginho Cleared by Arsenal to Represent Flamengo at FIFA Club World Cup

Arsenal midfielder Jorginho is set to join Brazilian club Flamengo on a free transfer, following the expiration of his contract with the Premier League side on June 30, 2025. The 33-year-old has reportedly agreed to a three-year deal with Flamengo, which will keep him at the club until 2028 .

Flamengo aims to have Jorginho available for the FIFA Club World Cup, scheduled to begin on June 16, 2025, in the United States. To facilitate his participation, Flamengo is seeking an early release from Arsenal, allowing Jorginho to join the squad ahead of the tournament .

Jorginho, who began his career in Brazil before moving to Italy at age 15, has spent his professional career in Europe, playing for clubs including Napoli, Chelsea, and Arsenal. He joined Arsenal in January 2023 and made 78 appearances across all competitions .

His move to Flamengo marks a return to his native country and adds experience to the Brazilian side as they prepare for both domestic competitions and the international stage.
