Jules Koundé Ruled Out for Three Weeks with Biceps Femoris Injury
Jules Koundé has been sidelined after suffering a distal injury to the biceps femoris in his left thigh, according to an official medical report from FC Barcelona. The French defender sustained the injury during the first leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-final against Inter Milan, where he was forced off the pitch before halftime due to discomfort.
Medical tests conducted on Thursday confirmed the extent of the injury, and Koundé is expected to be out for approximately three weeks. His absence comes at a crucial period for Barcelona, as the club faces decisive fixtures both in Europe and LaLiga.
Koundé will miss the second leg of the Champions League semi-final at the Giuseppe Meazza, the LaLiga Clásico against Real Madrid on May 11, and possibly additional league matches against Espanyol and Villarreal. If his recovery progresses smoothly, he may return for the final LaLiga game against Athletic Club on May 24 or the Champions League final on May 31, should Barcelona qualify.
In his absence, head coach Hansi Flick will likely turn to Eric García—who replaced Koundé during the Inter clash—as well as other defensive options like Héctor Fort and Ronald Araújo to cover the right-back position.
