Former One Direction star Liam Payne tragically passed away at just 31 years old in October 2024, after falling from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires. While fans around the world mourned the loss of the beloved singer, shocking legal revelations followed: Payne died without a will, leaving behind a staggering estate worth over £24 million.
According to UK court documents, the singer’s estate is now being handled by his ex-partner, singer Cheryl Tweedy, with whom he shares an eight-year-old son, Bear, along with music lawyer Richard Mark Bray. Although Payne had been in a relationship with influencer Kate Cassidy at the time of his death, she is not entitled to any share of his estate since they were neither married nor in a civil partnership.

Despite his youth, Payne had built a massive fortune—estimated at around $70 million—through a successful solo career, brand partnerships, and business ventures following his global success with One Direction. After debts were settled, the remaining £24.3 million is expected to be placed in a trust for his son Bear, ensuring his financial future.

Interestingly, Payne had previously hinted at his commitment to providing for his child. In a 2022 interview, he shared: "My life now is his, my money is his. I have actually got several companies that are up and running that I know he can run one day if he wants to—or he can sell them."
