The farewell ceremony featured a guard of honour, a heartfelt video montage with messages from former teammates such as Sergio Agüero and Vincent Kompany, and a rousing tifo from fans reading "King Kev." Manager Pep Guardiola was visibly moved, shedding tears as he acknowledged De Bruyne's profound impact on the club.
Throughout his 10-year tenure, De Bruyne amassed 16 major trophies, including six Premier League titles, two FA Cups, five League Cups, and the club's inaugural UEFA Champions League triumph in 2023. Individually, he recorded 108 goals and 177 assists in 421 appearances, equalling the Premier League record for chances created, alongside Cesc FÃ bregas, at 846.
In recognition of his contributions, Manchester City announced plans to erect a statue in his honour outside the Etihad Stadium. Additionally, a mosaic and a road at the club's academy will bear his name.
Addressing the crowd, De Bruyne expressed deep gratitude, stating, "This city, this club, these people gave me everything. I had no choice but to give everything back." He added, "Manchester will forever be on our kids' passports—and more importantly, in each of our hearts. This will always be our home."
De Bruyne's final appearance for Manchester City is anticipated in the upcoming match against Fulham, marking the end of an era for both the player and the club.
