Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has confirmed that Erling Haaland has resumed training following an ankle injury sustained during the FA Cup quarter-final win against Bournemouth in March. While the striker is making progress, Guardiola noted that his return to competitive action will depend on his physical condition and medical clearance.

Haaland is not expected to be involved in the upcoming Premier League fixture against Wolverhampton Wanderers. Guardiola revealed that although the Norwegian forward is keen to feature in the FA Cup final against Crystal Palace on May 17, any decision will be made based on guidance from the club’s medical staff. He explained, “When he feels ready and the doctor gives the green light, we’ll assess things after the final training session.”

The injury Haaland suffered was diagnosed as a syndesmosis, a complex ankle issue, which initially ruled him out for an estimated six to seven weeks. Currently in his fifth week of recovery, he has begun partial training and is gradually nearing full fitness.

In addition to Haaland, midfielder Rodri has also returned to training after recovering from a knee injury he picked up in September. While Guardiola expressed optimism regarding Rodri’s rehabilitation, he stressed the importance of not rushing the player’s return and confirmed that the club will continue to follow medical recommendations.

Manchester City, sitting fourth in the Premier League with four games remaining, are aiming to secure a Champions League qualification spot. The potential return of both Haaland and Rodri could significantly strengthen the team during this crucial phase of the season.
