Kepa arrives as a backup to David Raya, offering experienced cover after Arsenal opted not to retain Neto, who returned to Bournemouth following a loan spell.
He spent last season on loan at Bournemouth, where he made 35 appearances and helped the club achieve their best-ever Premier League finish. His departure ends a seven-year stint at Chelsea, where he made 163 appearances and won four major trophies.
Once the world’s most expensive goalkeeper, Kepa’s form dipped at Chelsea, but loan spells at Real Madrid and Bournemouth helped rebuild his confidence and value.
This is Arsenal’s second confirmed signing of the summer, following midfielder Martin Zubimendi. Manager Mikel Arteta is keen to finalize key additions before pre-season kicks off in Spain and Asia.
Kepa could make his debut as early as Arsenal’s summer friendlies in July. If you’d like a tactical breakdown of how he fits into Arteta’s system, I can help with that too.
