Arsenal have submitted a formal €11 million (£9.3m) offer for Brentford captain Christian Nørgaard as part of their plan to strengthen midfield options ahead of the new campaign. The 31-year-old Denmark international is being considered as a potential replacement for Thomas Partey, whose contract is set to expire at the end of June.
Nørgaard, a mainstay at Brentford since his arrival from Fiorentina in 2019, has made 192 appearances and is widely recognized for his leadership and defensive prowess. Last season, he ranked among the Premier League's best in tackles and interceptions, highlighting his consistency and discipline.
Mikel Arteta is believed to value Nørgaard’s experience and positional awareness, which could complement Arsenal’s young squad as they push for trophies. The midfielder is reportedly open to the move and is expected to receive a considerable salary increase if the deal materializes.
Negotiations are ongoing, with Brentford holding out for a higher fee. Meanwhile, Arsenal may face competition, notably from Tottenham, where former Brentford boss Thomas Frank is now at the helm and interested in reuniting with the player.
