FC Barcelona forward Ansu Fati is officially set to join AS Monaco on a season-long loan, with the deal including an option to buy for the French club.
Before finalizing the transfer, Fati renewed his contract with Barcelona—a strategic move that allows the club to retain long-term control over his future while easing their wage bill.
Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano confirmed the agreement, noting that Fati will undergo a medical in Monaco this week. The 22-year-old, who struggled for playing time under Hansi Flick last season, is seeking a fresh start in Ligue 1 after logging just 298 minutes across all competitions.
Barcelona has also included a buy-back clause in the agreement, ensuring they can re-sign Fati if he flourishes in France. The move is seen as mutually beneficial: Monaco gains a dynamic winger with European experience, while Barça continues its squad restructuring and financial recalibration.
