Tobi Amusan’s victory at the 2025 Ostrava Golden Spike meet wasn’t just a win—it was a statement.
The Nigerian hurdler clocked 12.45 seconds in the women’s 100m hurdles, comfortably outpacing her rivals and reaffirming her world-class status. This performance came just days after she ran a blistering 12.24 seconds at the Paris Diamond League, narrowly finishing second behind Grace Stark’s 12.21—her second-fastest legal time ever.
In Ostrava, Amusan led a competitive field that included Slovakia’s Viktória Forster (12.74s) and Ireland’s Sarah Lavin (12.76s), both of whom recorded season-best times. The race also featured Austria’s Karin Strametz, Hungary’s Anna Tóth, Italy’s Elena Carraro, and Czech Republic’s Helena Jiranová, rounding out a strong European lineup.
Amusan’s win is part of a broader resurgence. After a challenging 2024 season, she’s bounced back with renewed form, building momentum ahead of the World Championships in Tokyo this September. With her world record of 12.12 seconds still untouched, she remains a top contender for global gold.
