Bruno Fernandes Explains Decision to Decline Al Hilal Offer
Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has publicly addressed his decision to reject a lucrative transfer offer from Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal, reaffirming his commitment to competing at the highest levels of European football.
In a recent statement, Fernandes acknowledged the appeal of the move, noting the presence of fellow Portuguese international João Cancelo at Al Hilal. “Al Hilal for me was an easy move, even at a family level... I had João Cancelo there. But I want to maintain myself at the highest level,” he said.
Despite the financial incentives associated with the proposed transfer, Fernandes expressed his desire to continue participating in top-tier competitions. “I wanted to keep playing in the big competitions and I feel capable of it,” he added.
Reports indicate that Al Hilal was prepared to offer Fernandes a weekly salary of £700,000, with a transfer fee of £100 million. Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim reportedly encouraged Fernandes to remain at Old Trafford, reinforcing the club's intention to retain key players amid ongoing squad developments.
