Coco Gauff has clinched her second Grand Slam title by defeating world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka in a thrilling three-set final at the 2025 French Open. The match, held on June 7 at Court Philippe-Chatrier in Paris, saw Gauff rally from a set down to win 6–7(5), 6–2, 6–4, marking her first French Open singles title and the first by an American woman since Serena Williams in 2015.

At just 21 years old, Gauff has become the youngest American to win the French Open since Williams in 2002. This victory adds to her 2023 U.S. Open title, further solidifying her status as one of tennis’s rising stars.

The final was a spectacle of resilience and skill. Sabalenka took an early lead, winning the first set in a tightly contested tiebreak. However, Gauff’s determination shone through as she dominated the second set, capitalizing on Sabalenka’s increasing unforced errors. In the decisive third set, Gauff broke Sabalenka’s serve at a crucial moment to take a 4–3 lead and held her nerve to serve out the match, sealing the victory with a backhand winner.

After the match, Gauff expressed her gratitude, stating, “I want to thank my team... you remind me there’s more to life than tennis, and I think that’s what makes me play better on the court.” She also quoted rapper Tyler, The Creator, sharing a personal note she had written in 2021 about her dream of winning the French Open, which she fulfilled four years later.
