German winger Leroy Sané is on the brink of completing a move to Turkish giants Galatasaray. Following a breakdown in contract renewal talks with Bayern Munich, Sané has agreed to a three-year deal with Galatasaray that runs until 2028. He is expected to travel to Istanbul this evening to undergo a medical and finalize the signing .
The transfer will see Sané join Galatasaray on a free transfer once his current contract with Bayern expires on June 30. The Turkish club is offering a lucrative package reportedly worth around €15 million net per season, a figure that clearly outpaces Bayern’s latest offer . Given the timing, Sané will miss out on Bayern’s upcoming Club World Cup campaign in the U.S. , and he has already been omitted from Bayern's traveling squad .
Represented by agents including Max Bielefeld, Pini Zahavi, and George Gardi, Sané chose Galatasaray over interest from Premier League sides and clubs in Saudi Arabia—a decision influenced heavily by the financial terms and the promise of a central role in an ambitious Champions League project .
Sané brings pedigree and flair to Galatasaray’s squad. Since joining Bayern in 2020, he made 220 appearances, scored 61 goals, and provided 55 assists. At 29, he transitions from being one of Munich’s top earners to a marquee star set to headline Istanbul’s attack .
