Liverpool have confirmed the signing of Hungarian left-back Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth on a five-year contract, with the deal reportedly worth around £40 million .
At 21, Kerkez arrives at Anfield following a standout season in which he featured in every Premier League match for Bournemouth, registering two goals and six assists . This acquisition represents Liverpool’s third major addition of the summer, following the arrivals of Bayer Leverkusen duo Jeremie Frimpong (right-back) and Florian Wirtz (midfielder) .
Manager Arne Slot has made it clear that Kerkez will strengthen the left side, creating competition for established options Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas, with Robertson already being linked with Atletico Madrid . Kerkez himself expressed his excitement, calling it “a real honour… to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world, the biggest club in England,” and pledged to “give absolutely everything” to win trophies and contribute on the pitch .
Kerkez’s addition increases Liverpool's summer outlay to nearly £200 million—possibly crossing that threshold once goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili officially joins from Valencia on July 1 . The club continue to monitor centre-back Marc Guéhi (Crystal Palace) and may pursue a striker, depending on the future of Darwin Núñez .
Born on November 7, 2003, in Vrbas (Serbia and Montenegro), Kerkez developed through youth systems at Rapid Wien, Győr, AC Milan, and AZ Alkmaar before joining Bournemouth in 2023 . Internationally, he has earned 23 caps for Hungary since debuting in 2022 .
