Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, the sole survivor of the tragic Air India plane crash, carried the coffin of his brother, Ajay, to his funeral just hours after being discharged from the hospital. The devastating accident, which occurred shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad, claimed the lives of all 241 passengers onboard, including Ajay, as well as nearly 30 individuals on the ground.
Despite sustaining injuries, Ramesh was seen walking with a limp, his face covered in bandages, as he helped transport his brother’s remains to the cremation site in their hometown of Diu. The emotional procession took place amid heavy rainfall, with mourners gathering to pay their respects.
Ramesh’s survival has been described as miraculous. Seated in 11A, near an emergency exit, he managed to escape the burning wreckage moments before the aircraft exploded. His brother, seated a few rows away, was among those who tragically perished.
Following the accident, India’s aviation safety regulator conducted an inspection of Air India’s Boeing 787 fleet but reported no major safety concerns. However, concerns were raised regarding maintenance-related issues within the airline.
