Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has carried out a major restructuring of Kano Pillars Football Club’s management, appointing former Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa as the club’s new General Manager.

This move is part of a broader strategy to improve the club’s performance ahead of the 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League season.

According to a statement from the governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the previous board's one-year tenure had come to an end. The newly appointed 17-member board was formed following consultations with stakeholders in the Kano football community, with the aim of building on the club’s ninth-place finish in the just-concluded season.

Ahmed Musa, who began his professional career at Kano Pillars and went on to play in top European and Middle Eastern leagues, brings vast experience to his new role. With over 100 appearances for the Nigerian national team, his return to the club in a leadership capacity is seen as a step towards blending football experience with administrative leadership.

Governor Yusuf expressed confidence in Musa’s ability to motivate players, attract investment, and re-energize the club's supporters. The new leadership is expected to enhance both the technical and commercial aspects of the club, as Kano Pillars aim to become a stronger contender in Nigerian football.
