Gabriel Heinze Joins Mikel Arteta’s Coaching Staff as Arsenal Begin Pre-Season Training
Arsenal have officially welcomed former Argentina international Gabriel Heinze to their first-team coaching staff, marking a significant addition to Mikel Arteta’s technical team ahead of the 2025/26 season.
Heinze, who enjoyed a distinguished playing career with clubs such as Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Paris Saint-Germain, reunites with Arteta—his former teammate at PSG during the 2001–02 campaign. His appointment follows the departure of assistant coach Carlos Cuesta, who recently took up a head coaching role at Serie A side Parma.
The 47-year-old brings a wealth of managerial experience, having previously led teams including Godoy Cruz, Vélez Sarsfield, Atlanta United, and most recently Newell’s Old Boys. Known for his tactical discipline and defensive acumen, Heinze is expected to play a key role in refining Arsenal’s backline and mentoring the club’s young talents.
