The talented winger has signed a contract extension that keeps him at San Mamés until June 2035. The new deal reportedly includes a release clause in the region of €90–100 million, significantly higher than the previous €58 million clause. This move reaffirms Athletic Bilbao's determination to retain one of their brightest talents.
Speaking on his decision, Nico said, “We have very ambitious goals, like the Champions League… What could be better than doing it with the club of my life? I want to continue making history here at San Mamés, with the fans, with my family.”
His brother, Iñaki Williams, who now serves as the club’s captain, was by his side during the signing. Nico praised his brother’s leadership, saying, “My brother is a reference point for everyone, especially me… I think he’s perfect to be captain, and I can’t wait to see him wear the armband for a long time.”
Athletic Club's sporting director, Mikel González, described Nico's renewal as “fantastic news,” noting the significance of having both Williams brothers continue their journey with the club. He emphasized that Nico is not just a key player on the pitch but also a vital symbol of the club’s values.
