A prolonged negotiation between Manchester United and Brentford has concluded with an agreement believed to be worth up to £71 million. The transfer structure includes an initial £65 million payment, spread across multiple instalments, accompanied by a potential £6 million in performance-related add-ons.
Mbeumo, who netted 20 Premier League goals for Brentford last season, is expected to enhance United’s attacking options significantly. The 25‑year‑old forward has already declined interest from clubs like Arsenal, Tottenham, and Newcastle, confirming his desire to join Old Trafford.
Next steps for Mbeumo at United include completing a medical and signing a long-term deal—rumoured to run until 2030, with an option for a further year of extension. He is also expected to join the squad on their U.S. preseason tour, which kicks off later this month. Mbeumo will likely be deployed in one of the two No. 10 roles in Ruben Amorim’s 3-4-3 system, alongside recent recruit Matheus Cunha, to strengthen a front line that scored just 44 Premier League goals last season.
Meanwhile, Manchester United are looking to offload several players who do not fit into Amorim’s plans, including Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, and Tyrell Malacia.
