Gonçalo Ramos Honors Late Teammate Diogo Jota with Emotional Tribute

Gonçalo Ramos paid a touching tribute to his late Portugal and Liverpool teammate, Diogo Jota, after scoring Paris Saint-Germain’s fourth goal in their 4–0 victory over Real Madrid in the FIFA Club World Cup semifinals.
Ramos celebrated by performing Jota’s iconic video-game-inspired gesture—sitting on the pitch while mimicking holding a controller. The celebration, widely recognized among football fans, symbolized Jota’s love for gaming and has become a powerful way for teammates and friends to honor his memory.

This emotional tribute followed similar gestures earlier in the tournament from other players, including PSG’s Ousmane Dembélé and even opponents like Kylian Mbappé, showing how deeply Jota’s loss has resonated across the football world.

Jota tragically died on July 3, 2025, in a car accident in Spain alongside his brother, André Silva, just days after his wedding.
