Juventus are on the cusp of securing a major transfer coup, targeting Canadian striker Jonathan David, who is poised to become the club's first signing under the new executive leadership of Damien Comolli and Giorgio Chiellini.
The 25-year-old forward has officially departed Lille upon the expiry of his contract on June 30, 2025, making him available on a free transfer. According to sources including Fabrizio Romano and Matteo Moretto, Juventus have reached a verbal agreement on a long-term contract. The package reportedly includes a base salary of approximately €5 million per year, with an additional €2 million in performance-based bonuses.

Final formalities—including agent commissions, medical examinations, and official paperwork—are expected to be completed in the coming days.

David has established himself as a consistent goalscorer across five seasons at Lille, achieving double-digit tallies each campaign. In the 2024–25 season, he netted 16 goals and provided 5 assists in Ligue 1, contributing to 23 goals and 10 assists across all competitions—his third consecutive season tallying over 20 goal contributions. He also excelled in Europe, scoring 7 goals in just 10 Champions League appearances.

His addition comes at a pivotal time for Juventus following uncertainty around Dusan Vlahović’s future and the end of Randal Kolo Muani’s loan spell, leaving a significant void in the attacking lineup. With strong interest from clubs such as Napoli, Inter Milan, Liverpool, and Barcelona, Juventus faced stiff competition to secure his signature—but now appear to have prevailed.

Jonathan David was born on January 14, 2000, and plays as a forward. He previously played for Gent between 2018 and 2020 before joining Lille, where he scored 87 goals in 178 appearances. At international level, he has netted 36 goals in 67 appearances for Canada.
