Liverpool Forward Diogo Jota and Brother Tragically Die in Car Crash

Liverpool and Portugal international forward Diogo Jota has died at the age of 28, the Portuguese Football Federation has confirmed.

The tragic incident occurred in Spain, where Jota and his younger brother, André Silva — a midfielder for Liga Portugal 2 side Penafiel — were involved in a fatal car accident. Both brothers lost their lives at the scene.

Reports indicate that the vehicle veered off the road and caught fire. Preliminary investigations suggest a burst tyre may have led to the crash. The brothers were said to be returning from a family occasion when the tragedy happened.

Jota, a key figure for both Liverpool and the Portuguese national team, had recently celebrated his wedding. He leaves behind a wife and three children.

The Portuguese Football Federation expressed deep sorrow over the loss, describing it as a devastating moment for the country's football community. Moments of silence and tributes are expected to take place in honour of both Diogo and André.
