

Malcolm‑Jamal Warner, acclaimed for his portrayal of Theodore “Theo” Huxtable on the beloved sitcom The Cosby Show (1984–1992), has passed away at the age of 54. According to Costa Rican authorities, Warner drowned on July 20 while vacationing with his family at Playa Cocles, Limón province. Officials confirmed he was caught in a strong rip current; though he was later rescued by bystanders and treated by the Costa Rican Red Cross, he was pronounced dead at the scene from asphyxia by drowning .
Born on August 18, 1970, in Jersey City, New Jersey, Warner first came to prominence as the only son in the Huxtable family. His performance earned him an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series in 1986 .
