Italian striker Mateo Retegui has officially transferred from Atalanta to Saudi Pro League club Al‑Qadsiah, signing a three‑year contract. While the clubs have not disclosed the financial terms, Italian media report the transfer fee is approximately €65 million ($76 million), marking a record for any Italian player  .
Retegui, 26, spent only one season in Bergamo after joining Atalanta from Genoa as a replacement for the injured Gianluca Scamacca. He quickly made his mark, finishing as Serie A’s top scorer with 25 goals and helping Atalanta secure a third‑place finish  .

Born in Argentina, Retegui is eligible to play for Italy through his grandparents. He debuted for the Azzurri in 2023 and has since scored six goals in 20 international appearances  .

Atalanta expressed gratitude in a statement: *“The Percassi family, the Pagliuca family and the entire Nerazzurri club sincerely thank Mateo for the extraordinary contribution he made last season and wish him the best for his sporting career and future.”*

His arrival at Al‑Qadsiah follows the departure of former Gabon striker Pierre‑Emerick Aubameyang, who scored 21 goals in 36 appearances last season before departing to Olympique de Marseille  .
