Elanga, who joined Forest from Manchester United in 2023 for £15 million, had an impressive season in the Premier League, registering six goals and 11 assists in 38 appearances. His pace, energy, and ability to operate on both flanks have made him a key target for Newcastle as they prepare for a return to European football next season.
The Swedish international is reportedly interested in the move, particularly due to the opportunity to play in the UEFA Champions League and team up with fellow countryman Alexander Isak. Aston Villa have also shown interest in Elanga, but Newcastle are believed to be in a stronger position to finalise the deal.
Manchester United are set to benefit from any transfer, having included a 20% sell-on clause in the original deal with Nottingham Forest. If the transfer is completed at the proposed fee, it would make Elanga one of Newcastle’s most expensive signings, just behind Alexander Isak.
Negotiations are ongoing, but Newcastle remain confident of reaching an agreement soon.
