Rapper Nicki Minaj has publicly reignited her long-standing dispute with music mogul Jay‑Z over alleged unpaid earnings from the sale of TIDAL, the artist-owned streaming platform.
On Tuesday, July 8, Minaj took to X (formerly Twitter), claiming she was underpaid in relation to her equity stake in TIDAL. According to her, she was entitled to a significantly larger payout—between $100 million and $200 million—but only received a fraction of that amount. Referring to the issue as a "karmic debt," she urged Jay‑Z to “call me to settle this karmic debt.”
Minaj, who was one of the high-profile artists with a stake in TIDAL, expressed frustration that she did not receive what she believes was her rightful share following the platform’s sale to Jack Dorsey’s Square Inc. in 2021. She alleged that the situation continues to worsen as the amount "keeps collecting interest."
Despite her grievances, the rapper acknowledged her admiration for Jay‑Z, calling him one of her top five influences in hip-hop. However, she also voiced deeper concerns about how business has been handled by Roc Nation and its leadership.
