Arsenal Succumbs to 1–0 Defeat in Pre‑Season Friendly vs Tottenham
Arsenal concluded their Asian pre‑season tour with a narrow 1–0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur, in what marked the first North London Derby staged outside the United Kingdom, in Hong Kong at the Kai Tak Sports Park .
Pape Matar Sarr’s spectacular long-range strike—coming just before half‑time and from near the halfway line—proved to be the decisive moment. Sarr dispossessed Myles Lewis‑Skelly deep in Arsenal territory, immediately turning and lobbing the ball over goalkeeper David Raya, who appeared caught off his line .
Despite Arsenal enjoying substantial possession in the second half, they failed to convert any opportunities. New signing Viktor Gyökeres made his debut in the 77th minute but had limited influence during his 13-minute cameo, registering just two touches.
