President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has authorized the complete disbursement of allowances and match bonuses to the Nigerian Super Falcons as they prepare to face Morocco in the final of the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
A statement from the Presidential Media Centre confirmed the directive, stating that the payments cover all outstanding entitlements, including those owed to players, coaches, and officials, up to and including the final scheduled for Saturday, July 26, 2025.
Shehu Dikko, Chairman of the National Sports Commission, revealed during a press briefing in Abuja that the backlog of entitlements and coaching salaries—spanning up to 15 months—has now been cleared and is ready for immediate distribution. He described the move as a significant development in sports administration, noting that the current administration is committed to timely and transparent support for Nigerian athletes.
The initiative will also extend to Nigeria’s women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, as they prepare for their participation in the 2025 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket in Côte d’Ivoire.
