According to credible sources, Shettima departed Nigeria on the night of Sunday, June 29, and arrived in London the following Monday. Former President Buhari had reportedly been placed in intensive care but has since stabilized and is now recuperating well.
During the visit, Shettima spent several hours with Buhari in the hospital, delivering President Tinubu’s warm regards and prayers for a swift recovery. He reportedly conveyed assurances of full support for the former president’s convalescence.
In addition to visiting Buhari, Shettima also made a courtesy call on former Head of State General Abdulsalami Abubakar, who is likewise recuperating in London following medical treatment.
However, the Office of the Vice President described the trip as strictly private. Stanley Nkwocha, the Vice President’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communications, confirmed Shettima’s presence in London but declined to comment on specific engagements or official meetings.
Bashir Ahmad, former Special Assistant on Digital Communications to President Buhari, addressed media speculation regarding the former president’s health. He disputed claims of critical illness, stating that while Buhari is unwell and undergoing treatment, he is responding positively and expected to make a full recovery.
