Victor Osimhen is set to complete a permanent move from Napoli to Galatasaray, with club-to-club documentation expected to begin within the next 24 hours following a verbal agreement between both sides.
This transfer follows Osimhen’s successful loan spell at Galatasaray during the 2024–25 season. After a series of disputes with Napoli and failed moves to clubs including Chelsea and Al-Ahli, the Nigerian striker was removed from Napoli’s Serie A squad and stripped of his jersey number. On 4 September 2024, he joined Galatasaray on a season-long loan, with the Turkish side covering his full salary—estimated at €6 million net for the season—while Napoli extended his contract until June 2027.
Osimhen made a remarkable impact in Turkey, scoring 37 goals and providing 7 assists in 41 appearances across all competitions. His performances included six braces and a hat-trick, helping Galatasaray win both the Süper Lig title and the Turkish Cup. He also became the top scorer in the Süper Lig with 26 goals and earned the league’s Golden Boot. His tally set a new record for most goals by a foreign player in a single Süper Lig season, surpassing Mario Jardel’s long-standing mark.
Galatasaray's management, impressed by his influence on and off the pitch, aggressively pursued a permanent deal despite interest from top European and Saudi clubs. The agreement reached will see Galatasaray pay a total of €75 million for the transfer. The fee is structured as €40 million upfront and €35 million to be paid in one year. Additional clauses include performance-based bonuses and a 10% sell-on fee for Napoli from any future transfer profit. Furthermore, as part of the deal, Galatasaray is prohibited from selling Osimhen to any Italian club for the next two years.
Formal paperwork is set to be exchanged imminently, with the deal expected to be finalized once the contractual documents are signed by both clubs.
