The shortlist features some of the biggest names in world football. Paris Saint-Germain players are well represented following their Champions League triumph, with Ousmane Dembélé, Désiré Doué, Vitinha, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Achraf Hakimi, João Neves, Nuno Mendes, and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia all among the nominees.
Barcelona’s rising star Lamine Yamal also made the list alongside teammates Raphinha, Pedri, and veteran striker Robert Lewandowski.
Other standout nominees include Mohamed Salah (Liverpool), Kylian Mbappé, Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Jr. (Real Madrid), Scott McTominay (Napoli), Erling Haaland (Manchester City), Harry Kane (Bayern Munich), Alexis Mac Allister and Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool), Lautaro Martínez and Denzel Dumfries (Inter Milan), Cole Palmer (Chelsea), Michael Olise (Bayern Munich), Declan Rice (Arsenal), Fabian Ruiz (PSG), Viktor Gyökeres (Sporting/Arsenal), and Serhou Guirassy (Dortmund).
Notably absent from the list is last year's Ballon d’Or winner, Rodri, who missed a significant portion of the season due to injury.
The Ballon d’Or remains one of football’s most prestigious individual honours. With PSG securing a treble and Napoli enjoying a resurgent domestic season, the competition is fierce.
Winners of other key awards—including the Ballon d’Or Féminin, Kopa Trophy (best U21 player), Yashin Trophy (best goalkeeper), Gerd Müller Trophy (top scorer), Socrates Award, Johan Cruyff Trophy, and Club of the Year—will also be revealed during the gala event on September 22.
