Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has addressed the backlash that followed her recent public declaration of affection for Naira Marley.
The actress shared a video on her social media page in which she described the singer as a “sweet soul,” challenging the negative perception many hold about him. She supported her statement by recounting a personal encounter with Marley.
According to Okorie, Marley surprised her with a generous gesture during her birthday, giving her “lots of money” and expressing encouragement at a time she was facing challenges in the entertainment industry. She referred to the industry as “demonic,” claiming it is plagued by envy and ill intentions.
She further stated that Marley is “quiet” and “not a fighter,” and that the two later collaborated on a song after she visited him to show her appreciation.
Despite the widespread criticism over her stance—largely due to Marley’s alleged connection to the controversy surrounding the late Mohbad—Okorie maintained that her opinion was based on personal experience rather than public narratives.
