According to Blessing, IVD was preparing to board a flight to Qatar, where they were scheduled to wed, when he was apprehended by officials reportedly linked to the Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecutions. His arrest is believed to be connected to the ongoing court case involving the death of his late wife, Bimbo Ogbonna, who passed away in October 2022 following a fire incident at their home.

In a series of Instagram posts, Blessing CEO questioned the legality of the arrest, stating that there was no travel ban placed on IVD. She argued that someone attempting to flee the country would not have publicly announced the trip and booked a return ticket. She also emphasized that IVD had consistently appeared in court throughout the three-year duration of the case.

She said the arrest was carried out without a case file, formal statement, or legal documentation—claiming it was done solely on the order of a top official. Blessing described the situation as “bullying” and a “tribal war,” calling on the Lagos State Government to step in and ensure justice is served.

Legal sources suggest that IVD is facing a charge of involuntary manslaughter under suit number LD/21055C/23. Although reports indicate he may have been restricted from travelling due to the ongoing legal matter, Blessing CEO maintains that no such restriction was in place.

IVD is expected to remain in custody until Monday, August 4, when courts resume from recess. As the case continues to draw public interest, Blessing CEO insists the arrest is unjust and politically motivated, urging authorities to uphold due process.
