Chelsea Secure Loan Signing of Facundo Buonanotte from Brighton

Chelsea have finalised the loan acquisition of Argentine midfielder Facundo Buonanotte from Brighton & Hove Albion, beating competition from Leeds United and Borussia Dortmund.
The 20-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Leicester City — scoring six goals and providing three assists in 35 appearances — had been on the verge of joining Leeds before Chelsea intervened late in the transfer window. Buonanotte has already agreed personal terms and will join the Blues without an option or obligation to buy included in the deal.

A twice-capped Argentina international, Buonanotte joined Brighton from Rosario Central in January 2023 for an initial £5.3 million. Since then, he has made 50 appearances for the Seagulls, registering five goals.

The move comes as Chelsea sought to strengthen their attacking midfield options after missing out on Xavi Simons, who agreed to join Tottenham. Buonanotte will reunite at Stamford Bridge with several former Brighton teammates, including Marc Cucurella, Robert Sánchez, and Moisés Caicedo.

Chelsea are expected to officially announce the signing before the transfer deadline on Monday.
