Borussia Dortmund Enforces Dressing Room Ban Following Incident Involving Jobe Bellingham’s Parents
Borussia Dortmund has implemented stricter access protocols for its dressing room after an incident involving the parents of midfielder Jobe Bellingham. The decision follows an emotional confrontation that took place in the tunnel after Dortmund’s Bundesliga season opener against St. Pauli.

Jobe Bellingham, who joined Dortmund in a high-profile move from Sunderland, was substituted at halftime during his debut match. His parents, Mark and Denise Bellingham—longtime supporters of their sons’ football careers—reportedly expressed frustration over the substitution and the team’s overall performance. According to multiple sources, Mark Bellingham, who also serves as Jobe’s advisor, sought a direct conversation with manager Niko Kovac and held an emotional exchange with sporting director Sebastian Kehl.

Although Dortmund’s managing director Lars Ricken downplayed the severity of the incident, he confirmed that family members will no longer be permitted in the dressing room area to preserve professional boundaries.

Jobe’s debut came amid high expectations, but Dortmund’s 3–1 lead was squandered in the final minutes, ending in a 3–3 draw. The club emphasized that while the relationship with the Bellingham family remains strong, future access to player-only zones will be strictly limited to team personnel.
