At the heart of the group remains club captain Bruno Fernandes, joined by seasoned figures Harry Maguire, Lisandro Martínez, Diogo Dalot, Tom Heaton, and newly signed Noussair Mazraoui. These six players will be responsible for enforcing the club’s expectations—from punctual training and professional conduct to engaging with fans and maintaining a united team environment.
During the announcement, Amorim made his stance clear: “We have rules, and the rules are not to treat the players as babies… They are the guys responsible to keep everyone in line.” By delegating responsibility to this leadership group, Amorim aims to curb minor disciplinary issues internally, freeing up his time to focus on the broader strategic aspects of team management.
This move represents the latest step in Amorim’s sweeping cultural overhaul at the club. Since his arrival, Amorim has placed emphasis on restoring unity, implementing a merit-based structure, and eliminating toxicity that plagued earlier periods. Forward Luke Shaw, a vocal advocate of the new regime, praised the shift: “Amorim’s demand for 100 % commitment… eliminated divisiveness in the team, resulting in a healthier and more positive environment.”
Amorim has also made public his ambition to rise above United’s managerial instability of recent years. With a contract running until at least 2027 (with a club option), he declared during a recent interview: “I want to stay 20 \[years]… That is my goal.” He stressed that this extended vision is contingent on results—but also driven by a belief that the club already possesses the pedigree, the fans, the financial resources and the renewed culture necessary to reclaim its place at the apex of English and European football.
