Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Rema has made history once again. As of August 7, 2025, his deluxe debut album, Rave & Roses (Ultra), has officially become the first African musical project to exceed 3 billion streams on Spotify .

This milestone is driven by the phenomenal success of the album’s lead single. The "Calm Down" remix featuring Selena Gomez—already a record-breaker as the first African song to cross 1 billion Spotify streams—has amassed over 2 billion streams, accounting for the lion’s share of the album’s total . Meanwhile, the album’s remaining 20 tracks have collectively contributed just under 1 billion streams .
Released originally in March 2022 under Jonzing World and Mavin Records, with the Ultra version following in April 2023 , Rave & Roses (Ultra) continues to reinforce Rema’s status as a global musical force. The album now stands as Spotify’s most‑streamed African project, ahead of South African star Tyla, whose debut has surpassed 2 billion streams .
Notably, other African artists whose works have breached the 1 billion streams threshold include Burna Boy with African Giant and Love, Damini, Wizkid with Made in Lagos: Deluxe Edition, and CKay with CKay the First .
