Former Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has been granted conditional bail after appearing at Westminster Magistrates' Court to face five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault involving three women. The alleged incidents occurred between 2021 and 2022, during his tenure at the London club.
Partey, 32, joined Arsenal in October 2020 from Atlético Madrid in a deal worth £45 million. He signed a five-year contract valued at $52 million (approximately £40 million), earning an average annual salary of $10.4 million. His contract expired on June 30, 2025, and he departed the club as a free agent.
Despite the ongoing legal proceedings, Partey is reportedly close to finalizing a move to Spanish side Villarreal. The LaLiga club has agreed terms with the Ghanaian international, who has completed a medical and is expected to sign a one-year contract with an option to extend.
His bail conditions prohibit contact with the complainants and require him to notify authorities of any changes to his address or international travel plans. His next court appearance is scheduled for September 2 at the Crown Court, where the case will proceed. Partey denies all charges and has expressed his intention to clear his name through the legal process.
