Marc Guiu has joined Sunderland on a season-long loan following the successful completion of his medical. The 19-year-old Spanish striker arrives from Chelsea, where he made 16 appearances in his debut season after transferring from Barcelona. He impressed in European competition, scoring six times in seven Europa Conference League outings.
Sunderland have officially secured the deal without an option to buy, aiming to bolster their attacking lineup for the upcoming Premier League campaign. With mounting competition among Chelsea’s forwards, the club opted to send Guiu out on loan to ensure consistent first-team minutes.
The Black Cats will take on Guiu’s full wages during the loan spell. A clause has also been agreed that may trigger a financial penalty if the player does not meet a minimum number of appearances. Sunderland’s manager Régis Le Bris is expected to feature Guiu prominently, alongside forwards Wilson Isidor and Eliezer Mayenda.
Having earned promotion to the Premier League, Sunderland see Guiu as a strategic addition to help them navigate top-flight football in the 2025–26 season.
