Uruguayan international Darwin Núñez has officially finalized his permanent transfer from Liverpool Football Club to Saudi Pro League giants Al-Hilal, on a three-year deal. Liverpool confirmed the move today, subject to international clearance, and publicly extended their gratitude: “Everybody at the club would like to thank Darwin for his contributions and wish him and his family all the best for the future.”

Although neither club has disclosed financial specifics, British media estimate the transfer fee at approximately €53 million (roughly £46 million), potentially rising to £56.6 million with performance-based add-ons . Al-Hilal announced that Núñez has already joined their squad during their pre-season training camp in Germany .

Núñez's time at Liverpool spanned three seasons following his 2022 transfer from Benfica. Over 143 appearances, he scored 40 goals and contributed to Liverpool’s title wins, including the Premier League, the EFL Cup, and the Community Shield . However, his role diminished over time; last season, he made only eight Premier League starts, scoring a modest seven goals across all competitions .

This departure coincides with a wave of activity from Liverpool in the summer transfer window, aimed at reshaping their attacking line. The club has already strengthened the squad by signing Hugo Ekitike and Florian Wirtz, and remains engaged in the pursuit of Newcastle United's striker Alexander Isak .
