Vardy Swaps Leicester for Serie A as Cremonese Seal Veteran Striker’s Signature

Jamie Vardy has officially completed a surprise move to Serie A newcomers Cremonese, bringing an end to weeks of speculation over the veteran striker’s future.

The 38-year-old, who left Leicester City at the end of last season after a remarkable 13-year spell, has signed a deal with the Italian side until June 2026, with an option for a further year if the club retains its top-flight status.

Vardy’s decision comes despite strong interest from Celtic, Rangers, and several clubs in England and abroad.

Meanwhile the former England international, renowned for his relentless work rate and clinical finishing, opted to reject offers from Scotland and elsewhere in favour of a first career move outside the United Kingdom. His arrival in Cremona follows the club’s impressive start to life back in Serie A, including a shock 2-1 victory over AC Milan and a 3-2 win against Sassuolo.

During his time at Leicester, Vardy scored 200 goals in 500 appearances, famously spearheading the club’s fairytale Premier League title triumph in 2016 and lifting the FA Cup in 2021. He also earned 26 caps for England, scoring seven goals. Cremonese, promoted from Serie B last season, will look to his experience and leadership to help secure their Serie A survival.

The move marks a new chapter in Vardy’s storied career, as he swaps the King Power Stadium for the Stadio Giovanni Zini, aiming to make an impact in one of Europe’s most competitive leagues.
